We have scheduled several activities to help us raise the funds to go on our mission trip. One of the things we have in the works is a series of Bead Soup Parties. Women come to a party and they make bracelets. They sit and pick through a huge vat of beads that we have, selecting and designing their own. It is really fun, and a good deal for handmade jewelry. We had a little training tonight to be sure everyone understands the process enough to go out and lead a party. Here are Kylie and Maddy selecting beads from the soup.
Notice they have books in front of them. During our preparation, we are all reading In His Steps. Great reading. This book was written in the late 1800s, and was adapted to modern language in the 1970s. It is the book behind the WWJD movement. SImply, a congregation of people make a vow to stop and think what Jesus would do if He was faced with the daily decisions they each are. It is inspiring and thought provoking.
